Seminar “Cooperation and conflict between Spain and the United States on the Mississippi”

The Fundación Consejo España - Estados Unidos and the Faculty of Law of the University of Salamanca organized the seminar “Cooperation and conflict between Spain and the United States on the Mississippi”, on Friday 26th of May (from 09.30 am to 5.30 pm) at the Salón de Grados of the University.

The main aim of this seminar was to offer a close approach of the interesting historical period between Spain and the brand new American nation at the end of the eighteenth century. The public got to know the political, legal and commercial problems arising from the navigation of the Mississippi and the resulting treaties.

This seminar is very much in line with the purpose of the Fundación of enhancing the mutual knowledge between Spain and its ally the United States of America, paying special attention to their shared history.
Ambassador Eduardo Garrigues was the academic coordinator of this seminar. He is an expert in the Mississippi as well as a member of the Executive commission of the Fundación.
