Spain and the United States in the wake of the Independence

The presentation of the book "Spain and the United States in the wake of the Independence", organised by the Fundacion Consejo España- Estados Unidos, the Foundation Ortega-Marañón and Casa de America, took place on July 8th at 7.30 pm in Casa de America.

This book, co-sponsored by the Fundación Consejo España- EE.UU, collects the papers of the symposium "The Spanish contribution to the independence of the United States: between reform and revolution," organised by the Fundación in Washington DC in 2007, together with the Smithsonian Institution and SEACEX (now AC / E).

The presentation was chaired by Eduardo Garrigues, member of the Fundacion Consejo España- Estados Unidos and Secretary General at the time of the symposium, and Antonio Lopez Vega, Deputy Director of the Research Institute Ortega y Gasset. Other participants included Emilio Lamo de Espinosa, Deputy Chairman of the Fundación, José Varela Ortega, President of the Ortega Marañon Foundation and Tomas Poveda, Director General of Casa America.
