Working breakfast with Todd Foley


The Fundación, in collaboration with the Embassy of the United States in Madrid, organized a working breakfast on November 20 with Todd Foley, Senior Vice President of Policy and Government Relations of the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE). A reduced group of representatives from the most relevant companies of the energy sector in Spain attended the event.
Mr. Foley has an extensive background of more than 30 years in the energy sector, with special emphasis on the Spanish solar market, where he was part of the design and implementation of the feed-in tariffs system ( feed-in tariff system em>). During his extensive professional experience, and prior to joining ACORE in 2010, he has led numerous renewable energy projects in the United States, both in the federal and state policy field, among which he highlights obtaining support to achieve important federal tax incentives and in the development, promulgation and expansion of many of the state renewable energy standards.

During the meeting, Mr. Foley shared a large amount of data and information regarding the current state of renewable energy in the USA, highlighting its position as a world reference. During the subsequent debate, among other issues, guests discussed about the need to accelerate the transition towards an economy focused on renewable energy, where investments, development and public policies converge. Particularities of the energy and regulatory sector in Spain as well as the challenges that both countries face in this transformation of the energy paradigm were also addresed.
