On 18th of September H.M. the King Felipe VI presented Ford Motor Company, represented by its Chairman Mr. Mark Fields, the VI Bernardo de Gálvez Award, granted by the Fundación Consejo España – Estados Unidos. Mr. Juan María Nin, Chairman of the Fundación, conducted the ceremony and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Mr. José Manuel García Margallo, delivered the laudatio.
The event took place at Saint Augustine (San Agustín), as a starting point of the XX Spain - U.S. Forum that the Fundación organizes along with the US-Spain Council on every year. On this occasion we also celebrated the 450th anniversary of the city of Saint Augustine (“the oldest city in the U.S.”) by the Spaniard Pedro Menéndez de Avilés.
With this Award, the Fundación recognized the crucial role of the factory of Ford in Almussafes (Valencia) The strategy of Ford Motor Company, led by Mr. Fields and his team, to maintain and reinforce the presence of the company there was key for the workers and the economy of that region. But, at the same time, it sent a powerful message of confidence in our country.
