The exhibition’s themes and best representations of each have been selected, in Spanish or English, for the creation of this exhibition catalog. The catalog has been designed in the form of a book of short articles accompanied by images chosen mostly from among the displayed documents. Thus, the book is composed of texts that either reflect the different aspects of the exhibition—and are supported by its contents—or provide complementary points of view to it.

The book “Un corsario al servicio de Benjamin Franklin. Ataque naval en las Islas Canarias” covers the relation between the traders from Tenerife and the Founding Fathers of the United States, among them, Benjamin Franklin, and their frequent interactions. Individuals like Matías de Gálvez and Diego María de Gardoqui feature in the book too. The story is the outcome of three years of careful research at the archival holdings on Benjamin Franklin at the American Philosophical Society, and at Zárate Cólogan File at the Archivo Histórico Provincial de Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
